A new career move takes us out west

For those of you not within shouting distance of myself, Sam or our immediate family, you may or may not be aware of the big changes heading our way in the coming weeks. Recently, I accepted a position as a User Interface Designer, at PayPal, an eBay Co., out in San Jose, California. Anybody that knows myself or Sam knows that we're avid eBay'ers and this is a tremendous opportunity that I couldn't pass up from a career standpoint.

What this means for our Janney clan is probably one of the biggest life adventures we'll ever encounter as a family. My last official day at Lands' End is this upcoming Friday, while our move will begin two weeks later with an extended holiday vacation between Wisconsin and California at mom and dad's in Wyoming. Needless to say, the grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are excited that Miss Daisy will be making her first extended visit to the Cowboy State over Christmas. It's an encounter that will happen sooner rather than later, which is a very good thing. My first official day at PayPal is slated for mid-Jan.

In addition to the move, we've had to make some tough decisions including giving up both dogs. Neither pup fared well with Daisy at home and the additional stress and strain on the two, with the impending move and close quarters in Cali., wasn't something either Sam or I wanted to put them through. Besides the dogs, we'll be selling our beautiful 100-year-old Victorian home in Mineral Point (more on this in a future post dedicated to the house).

Why do this you ask? Well, there are a number of reasons, but like I stated earlier it's an opportunity that I can't pass up. Taking a position at a company like a PayPal is something I've always wanted a shot at. I guess you could say this is my chance in the 'bigs.' Sam has been an amazing friend and wife through all of this and I'm confident that no matter what, the three of us will do fine - hence Sam doesn't wander off at Golden Gate Park (family joke). Anyway, enough rambling for now as I'm sure both Sam and I will dedicate more than enough posts to this topic in the upcoming weeks. Until then - happy Sunday.
